GILSON GRAY FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ACQUIRES RS ROBERTSON FINANCIAL PLANNING BASED IN SCOTLAND
Capital and Trust - April 26, 2023 - 0 minute read
Gilson Gray Financial Management, the financial services arm of law firm Gilson Gray, has acquired RS Robertson Financial Planning, a large financial advice firm based in Fife, Scotland.
The acquisition brings Gilson Gray’s assets under advice to over £650m.
RS Robertson, which was founded in the 1970s and became a St James’s Place Wealth Management partner practice in September 2022, offers a full range of bespoke financial planning services to individual clients and small businesses, as well as advice on complex pension plans.
The firm’s managing director, Gordon Laing, and a team of 12 financial planners and client relationship specialists will join Gilson Gray’s Dundee office. As part of the deal, RS Robertson’s clients across Scotland’s east coast and central belt will have access to Gilson Gray’s wider legal and property service offerings.
According to Mr Laing, one of the main advantages of the acquisition by Gilson Gray is that clients will now have access to a wider range of services.
He sees this as a major benefit in a world where financial complexity is increasing.
Joining Gilson Gray will also allow him to focus more on training and developing the next generation of Financial Planners.
Steve Herkes, managing director of Gilson Gray Financial Management, believes that the acquisition will be a great fit for both clients and the team at RS Robertson, as well as providing an opportunity for the company to expand and grow its presence in Fife, Dundee and Angus. Gilson Gray Financial Management is a senior partner practice of St James’s Place Wealth Management and offers specialist financial advice to private and corporate clients across the UK. The firm, established in 2014, has over 160 staff in four offices located in North Berwick, Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow, and provides advice on law, property and finance.
The acquisition of RS Robertson Financial Planning is the latest in a series of deals for Gilson Gray, including the acquisition of Sarah Hughes Wealth Management, a Chartered Financial Planner based in Edinburgh.
